White House Reportedly Finalizing Executive Order On Guns

posted on December 12, 2015

Although Barack Obama has repeatedly pressured Congress to pass various gun-control measures, it appears that he has resolved to take unilateral action on expanding background checks. Most information at this point is secondhand, but it has been reported that the White House is finalizing the details on an executive order that would require gun owners who sell a certain volume online or at gun shows to conduct background checks on transfers.

We have previously theorized that Obama would increasingly go at it alone on his crusade against guns, abandoning any attempt at consensus as his presidency draws to a close. While this piece of news is frightening to supporters of the Second Amendment, rest assured that the NRA will do everything within its power to challenge such an executive order on legal grounds.
