For more than 23 years, I have served as your voice, representing NRA, and fighting for our Second Amendment rights across our nation’s media landscape. Even more than that, it has been my honor to fight for freedom alongside extraordinary patriots like you every single day.
And now, I am humbled and honored to serve you as NRA’s interim executive vice president, as we begin the next chapter in our organization’s long, storied and successful history.
As we move forward together, it is not hard to see what is ahead of us on the immediate horizon. November’s national election will not just decide the future of our freedom for the next four years. It could very well decide whether our freedoms—our sacred Second Amendment rights—survive at all.
I say that because President Joe Biden and his allies at every level of government view you, me, and all NRA members and gun owners as their enemies. We are viewed as hostile to them simply because we support, defend and protect the fundamental freedoms found in the Second Amendment—the same Second Amendment that Joe Biden swore an oath to defend.
Regardless of that oath, he has referred to law-abiding gun ownership—and especially ownership of semi-automatic firearms—as “sick.” He has said that owning them has “no social redeeming value.” That is why his stated mission is to reinstate Bill Clinton’s sweeping and crushing gun ban.
Biden also wants to ban all standard-capacity magazines, and force anyone who owns them to either register them with the federal government or turn them in.
Biden wants to remove vital federal protections against frivolous lawsuits aimed at firearms manufacturers and roll out a red carpet for trial lawyers to sue America’s gun makers out of existence.
You can bet that if Joe Biden wins a second term in office, he will move forward on every single one of these fronts.
The only thing that can stop him—and I mean the only thing—are the men and women of the National Rifle Association. Together, we have won countless big elections when our freedom was squarely on the line. We stood strong and tall in the face of extraordinary opposition. We have won victories for Second Amendment rights that few thought possible.
Simply put, when a politician threatens our most fundamental freedom, we make it our job to retire that politician from office.
In fact, there is no other single-issue organization on the planet with the proven capability to tip an election in the favor of freedom than the NRA.
However, this election fight, more than any fight in the past, is going to take all of us pulling together. There is simply no way we can outspend freedom-hating billionaires like Michael Bloomberg and George Soros. There is no way we can match the trillions of dollars’ worth of publicity and propaganda the mainstream-media machine and far-left Hollywood celebrities will crank out in favor of Joe Biden.
But what we can do is lead America’s 100-million-plus gun owners, amplify their voices and create a groundswell of pro-gun, pro-freedom voters who turn to vote on Election Day. The power of our membership has always been our best weapon in every election.
As an NRA member, I know that you are up to the task. You never shrink in the face of a big battle. Members like you are the sworn defenders of every core principle and value that makes America the greatest nation and most successful experiment in freedom in history.
Always remember that you and your fellow members have been the deciding factor in so many pivotal elections. Together, we have pulled our nation back from the brink and set her on a course for freedom before. And I have no doubt that if we continue to lead and fight under the NRA banner—today and every day leading up to November—we will do it again!
Thank you for everything you have helped accomplish as an NRA member. Our nation truly owes you a debt of gratitude, and we could not be more thankful for your unrelenting courage and leadership.
