Each year, when NRA hosts its Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, Pa., Keystone State NRA members, sportsmen and outdoor enthusiasts show up in droves. And each year, NRA shows its thanks for their support by making donations to local area law enforcement, youth groups and other organizations. This year, NRA has announced that the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Swatara, Pa., Township Police Department will be the recipients of grants totaling $25,220.

$15,220 will be provided to the Pennsylvania Game Commission, which will use the money to purchase night-vision goggles that will allow its Woodland Tracking Team to more effectively search for hunters and hikers who become lost.

$10,000 will go to the Swatara Township Police Department, which recently re-established its K-9 program after 11 years. The money will be used to help train the new K-9 officers in searches, criminal apprehension and drug detection.

NRA spokesman Jason Brown said the two organizations were chosen because they exemplify the spirit and the future of the outdoor lifestyle in Pennsylvania. “By supporting and empowering them to make a lasting positive impact in their communities, we invest not only in the future of the Great American Outdoor Show, but the future of our outdoor tradition,” he said.
