Competitive shooter Julie Golob has released a new book that draws on some of the messaging from the Eddie Eagle GunSafe program in providing a short book to teach young children about gun safety.

The book is called “Toys, Tools, Guns & Rules,” and Golob, in a YouTube video, explains that she was inspired by her own situation of having two young children in her home. Having grown up in a gun-owning family, and continuing that tradition in her own home, Golob wrote the book as a simple way to get the message to children that guns are tools and one needs to be safe around them.

Part of the message is that if a youngster sees a gun, they shouldn’t touch it, but should tell a trusted adult about it. That is in line with the NRA’s Eddie Eagle gun safety program for children, which teaches children that if they see a gun, they should stop, don’t touch, run away and tell an adult.
