Exposed by overwhelming accusations of sexual misconduct, Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein tried to rehabilitate himself by channeling his anger at NRA.

This feature appears in the December ‘17 issue of NRA America’s 1st Freedom, one of the official journals of the National Rifle Association.

Embroiled in numerous allegations of rape and sexual harassment, NRA-hating movie producer Harvey Weinstein has done what any typical hypocrite would do—try to deflect attention away from himself by attacking others.

Weinstein, who has proclaimed his hatred of NRA members for several years, recently targeted the Association again, apparently to help him get over his anger at being caught in decades of criminal misogynistic behavior against women in the movie industry.

“I am going to need a place to channel my anger, so I’ve decided I’m going to give the NRA my full attention,” Weinstein said after the allegations surfaced.

He continued: “I hope Wayne LaPierre will enjoy his retirement party. I’m going to do it at the same place I had my Bar Mitzvah.”

If you’ll recall, this is the same Harvey Weinstein who once told radio host Howard Stern, “I shouldn’t say this, but I’ll tell it to you, Howard, I’m going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and we’re going to take this issue head-on.” As for the NRA, he boasted, “They’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them.”

Weinstein’s bravado probably lies very close to the surface these days, given the seriousness of the charges against him. NRA Executive Vice President LaPierre isn’t going anywhere soon—and certainly Weinstein has no power to force such a change. Besides, hosting a retirement party from prison, where Weinstein will likely find himself residing in the not-too-distant future, isn’t an easy task.

Speaking of prison, as Hollywood stars quickly abandoned Weinstein en masse, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was one of the last “celebrities” to voice her displeasure about the serious allegations. Clinton, like former president Barack Obama, waited nearly five days to distance herself from Weinstein—a huge donor to both of their election campaigns. In contrast, it took Clinton just a few hours to begin blaming NRA members for the heinous criminal attack in Las Vegas.

Is anyone really surprised?
