Former LA Mayor Says Clinton Supports Ammo Background Checks

posted on May 19, 2016

Speaking “on behalf of Hillary Clinton” at a gun-control roundtable Monday, former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said Clinton supports the ballot initiative requiring that Californians pass a background check for all ammunition purchases, Breitbart reports.

As Villaraigosa also pointed out, Clinton also supports so-called “universal” background checks for all firearm purchases and a national ban on many semi-automatic firearms—laws that California has already imposed and that have failed to stop killers like those in San Bernardino and Santa Barbara.

California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom is currently pushing a ballot initiative in California that would ban detachable magazines with capacities greater than 10 rounds, along with requiring background checks for all ammunition purchases.
