Following the lead of Weatherby and Kimber, among others, a New York-based firearm-related company is packing its bags and moving its business to a state that has less-restrictive gun laws.
Check-Mate Industries will soon move much of its manufacturing process to Thomasville, Ga., from West Babylon, N.Y.
Check-Mate, which counts handgun and rifle magazines among its products, is moving partly in response to New York’s laws governing magazine capacity.
Check-Mate expects to employ 230 workers in Georgia, with an annual payroll of almost $7.5 million.
