Anti-Second Amendment groups are on a spending spree in an attempt to take away our rights. To do so, they are being helped by some deep-pocket donors.

Compared to the same period last year, spending for gun-control lobbying rose 21% from January through March of this year to a total of $630,000, according to Open Secrets. Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown topped the list of spenders for the 10th consecutive year at $380,000 spent on anti-gun lobbying efforts. Giffords came in second on the list, spending approximately $150,000 during 2021’s first three months.

This follows President Joe Biden’s (D) calls for increased gun control.

According to Larry Keane, senior vice president for governmental relations for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, “The coincidental spending by gun-control groups and the insistence on restrictive laws by gun-control politicians is too obvious. The U.S. House of Representatives passed two gun-control bills within days of Congress convening—one to require so-called ‘universal background checks’ (a necessary pre-cursor to national gun registration) and the other to endlessly delay background check determinations. They were passed on near-party lines and with no committee debate. Both bills went straight to the House floor and were rubber stamped and sent to the U.S. Senate.”

Meanwhile, Biden also recently published a list of gun-control executive actions to the White House’s website, including model “red-flag” legislation and the nomination of David Chipman to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Everytown praised this move by Biden as “just the beginning.”

These various gun-control groups rely on the rich and famous to help them fund and push their anti-gun agenda. As Breitbart reported: “Left-wing Hollywood celebrities wasted little time in pushing for gun control and gun reform” following the tragic acts of a deranged murderer in Colorado. “Stars including Julianne Moore, Bradley Whitford, Mia Farrow and Jamie Lee Curtis seized the opportunity, rushing to social media to promote measures including background checks and a ban on assault weapons.”

Several years ago, Everytown enlisted the help of over 80 Hollywood big names into a celebrity anti-Second Amendment body, including Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, Alec Baldwin, Ellen DeGeneres, Ron Howard, Spike Lee and Conan O’Brien.

That support has been financial, too, including the $500,000 George Clooney and his wife Amal donated to the pro-gun-control “March for Our Lives” event a couple years ago, but that half-million is essentially pennies compared to what some bigwigs have and are spending to take away our Second Amendment rights.

Former Microsoft CEO and Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer also gifted a cool $7 million to Everytown last year.

Former New York City mayor and failed presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg also spent over one billion dollars of his own money on last year’s elections.

What we have here are a group of very wealthy elites, people who often have armed security, using their money and positions in an attempt to diminish or outright take away the peoples’ rights.
