What better place than Texas for those who cherish freedom to come together and show their support for the Association and the rights we protect together? For more than a century and a half, your NRA has led the way in marksmanship training and firearm-safety education, and we continue to stand tall in the defense of our rights. This year, NRA members and guests will have the opportunity to gather as one big NRA family at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, May 17-19. From speeches, to auctions, to special events, it’s all happening in Dallas. Make plans now to join fellow Second Amendment patriots for a freedom-filled weekend as we celebrate NRA’s 153rd anniversary.
As this was written, speakers and entertainment were still being booked. The best way to stay on top of the growing schedule is to visit nraam.org, which is updated almost daily as more details come online. Note that tickets are required for some of the events.
Kicking off the festivities in Dallas on Thursday night the 16th will be the NRA Foundation Banquet & Auction. Join us for a night of supporting the Second Amendment, the shooting sports and our hunting heritage with an evening of food, firearms and fundraising. Help us teach freedom by bidding on custom firearms, unique merchandise and specialized hunts. All proceeds benefit The NRA Foundation and the future of the shooting sports. Also returning on Thursday is the popular Wall of Guns, which will be there all weekend, allowing members to buy tickets and take their chances on some outstanding gun prizes.
On Friday, the NRA-ILA Leadership Forum, featuring our nation’s top pro-Second Amendment political leaders—not only from Texas, but also from around the country—will address NRA members directly and in person. Slated to kick off at 12 p.m. as of press time, some big names in the political arena have committed and more details will be available the closer we get to Dallas. Previous speakers have included former President Donald J. Trump, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
A new event will make its debut this year, the Women’s Leadership Forum Gala & Auction, which combines two previous marquee fundraising events into one exciting night, and it will benefit the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) during this critical election year. Fox & Friends Weekend and Fox Nation host Pete Hegseth is the inaugural keynote speaker. Hegseth, a former infantry officer with combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, is also a No. 1 New York Times bestselling author, and he should need little introduction to NRA members. Tickets to this first-of-its kind event are required.
And, of course, there’s the Exhibit Hall, opening up on Friday, May 17, at 9 a.m. It will also be available to members and guests on Saturday and Sunday. There will be acres of guns and gear on display from the top companies in the firearm and accessory fields. Want to try the action on the new blued Colt Python or see Hornady’s new 22 ARC cartridge in person, hold Taurus’ first bolt-action rifle—the Expedition—or handle Smith & Wesson’s 1854 lever-action? You can do it here all under one roof. You can see all the latest in new guns, ammunition, holsters and optics, as well as book your next hunt with guides and outfitters from all over the world. Some of the most rare and interesting firearms from personal collections will be on display in exhibits put together by NRA’s top gun-collecting affiliate clubs.
Saturday’s main event is the Annual Meeting of Members. It is here NRA members participate in the Association’s business and help shape its future. At this historic gathering, members hear directly from the officers about the state of the NRA and have the chance to vote on issues and elect the 76th member of the NRA Board.
Sunday starts off early with the NRA Prayer Breakfast (ticket required) in a celebration of faith and freedom. Also on Sunday, the Women’s New Energy Breakfast will offer another chance for NRA women to network with their fellow freedom-loving women of the NRA.
Seminars and workshops are still being scheduled on topics ranging from firearms history to concealed-carry fundamentals and crime-prevention strategies, plus many more. There will also be two special presentations by Maj. John L. Plaster, USAR (Ret.), on sniping yesterday and today. Historian Martin K.A. Morgan, a field editor for American Rifleman magazine, will deliver presentations on “D-Day 80 Years Later,” “Guns of the Warsaw Pact” and “Kalashnikov: Evolution of the AKM.”
Admission is free for NRA members and their immediate family (spouse and children under 18). Walk-up registration will be available on-site for existing members, and you can join NRA on-site for free access to the show. We’ll see you in Dallas!
