Shattered Dreams: Jersey Justice

A new special report by NRA News' Ginny Simone spotlights Steffon Josey-Davis, the 24-year-old Loomis Armored security guard and aspiring cop. Planning to visit the shooting range after work, he was checking his legally owned gun in the garage. When his 6-year-old sister walked out and surprised him, Josey-Davis quickly stuffed the gun into the glove compartment … and promptly forgot about it.

That evening, New Jersey police pulled him over for an expired registration. As he reached for his insurance, Josey-Davis remembered—“the gun.” But his nightmare was just beginning. Two years later, he’s an unemployed convicted felon whose career aspirations are dashed.

“That’s what New Jersey produces better than any other state: victims of gun control,” says Josey-Davis, who hopes for a pardon from Gov. Chris Christie. His attorney Evan Nappen wonders, “How many more law-abiding citizens need to have their life destroyed by this stupid law?”
