“I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone,” President Barack Obama announced in 2014 when defending executive orders. Today, he will again go around Congress and against the will of the American people to put that pen into action and impose more gun-control measures.
“A few months ago, I directed my team at the White House to look into any new actions I can take to help reduce gun violence,” Obama said in his weekly address last Friday. He then met with Attorney General Loretta Lynch yesterday to discuss those options.
Whatever he announces today, it’s certain those actions will have no impact on “gun violence.” Obama has already received backlash from U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisc.; Texas Gov. Greg Abbott; GOP presidential candidates; and many more. In addition, the conservative advocacy group Freedom Watch has stated that it plans to sue to block any executive order on gun control.
