Texas Mom Shoots Menacing Intruder

posted on January 14, 2016

A mother of three in Dripping Springs, Texas, was at home with her children when she saw an unfamiliar car parked in her driveway and a man getting out of it. She told police that the man attempted to enter her locked front door before trying other access points, ultimately making his way into her kitchen by means of the garage. At this point she confronted him with a handgun and ordered him to leave.

The Austin American-Statesman reports that the suspect failed to comply with the homeowner’s order. She fired one shot, hitting him in the abdomen and causing him to flee. The suspect was found and transported to a nearby hospital; the Hays County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that he is expected to recover and will be charged with a count of felony burglary. None of the home’s occupants were harmed.
