Armed Robber Stopped In His Tracks

posted on December 31, 2015

When he entered the MetroPCS store in Newport News, Va., his face was covered and he was carrying a handgun. When he exited the store he was on a stretcher, having been shot once in the chest.

Police first received a report of a suspected robbery around 7:15 p.m. While they were en route, dispatchers were notified that the suspect had been shot. After officers arrived, the 48-year-old man accused of robbery was transported to a hospital, where his condition remains unknown.

Police said an as-yet-unnamed employee shot the suspect once in the chest. No one else was in the store at the time, and there were no other injuries. The interior surveillance video footage obtained by police is under review and, although no charges have yet been filed, police say the suspect may face charges after further investigation.
