California Gun Sales Continue To Climb

posted on December 30, 2015

As gun-control advocates continue to push more restrictive gun laws in cities throughout the state, gun sales continue to rise, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The trend began in 2003, when less than 150,000 handguns were sold, and has jumped every year since, sometimes dramatically: From 2010 to 2014, gun sales in California almost doubled. In fact, last year’s final tally—510,000—was enough to shatter the previous record, set in 1993, for most guns sold during a one-year period.

Now, 2015 appears poised to proceed apace: By November, handgun purchases alone had reached 376,000, according to the Chronicle, and that number did not include the surge in sales after the San Bernardino terror attack or the annual Black Friday sales jump.

While anti-gun politicians like Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom seem to hope new laws will curb gun ownership in the Golden State, it seems his proposals are likely to have just the opposite effect.
